An AI company offering £145,000 for executive support? We’re pleased to see it.

Anthropic, the company behind AI assistant Claude, has advertised a London Administrative Business Partner role with a £145,000 annual salary, as recently reported by City AM.

At We Personally Assist, we welcome that recognition of the value experienced assistants bring.

The salary catches the eye. But the responsibilities tell the more interesting story: supporting senior leaders, anticipating needs, managing changing priorities, building relationships and handling confidential information with discretion.

These are skills that experienced EAs and PAs develop over years of working closely with people and businesses.

Managing a diary means understanding which conversation needs to happen first, where preparation time is needed and when moving a meeting could affect an important relationship. Handling an inbox involves recognising what matters, knowing when to act and deciding what needs someone’s attention.

Good support requires context, judgement and ownership.

AI can help with parts of that work. Used thoughtfully, it can reduce repetitive tasks and give assistants more time to focus on the people and priorities they support. Professional judgement remains essential in deciding how to use it and checking the result.

For a busy business owner, the value of an experienced EA is being able to hand something over with confidence. Someone understands what is needed, follows it through and keeps things moving, reducing the need to remember, check or chase.

That is the standard we believe in at WPA.

One job advert cannot tell us everything about the future of work. But it is encouraging to see a company developing advanced AI investing so substantially in human executive support.

It recognises something our profession has long understood: capable, trusted assistants make a real difference to how a business runs.
